J.J. Abrams Alcatraz Gets A New Trailer

Fox has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming TV Project from J.J. Abrams, "Alcatraz". The show seems to have a really cool concept. Here is the shows synopsis:

When San Francisco Police Department DET. REBECCA MADSEN (Sarah Jones, “Sons of Anarchy”) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: JACK SYLVANE (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, “The Nine”), a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, RAY ARCHER (Robert Forster, “Jackie Brown”), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued, and once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent EMERSON HAUSER (Sam Neill, “Jurassic Park”) tries to impede her investigation, she’s doggedly committed. Madsen turns to Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast, DR. DIEGO “DOC” SOTO (Jorge Garcia, “Lost”), to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. The twosome discovers that Sylvane is not only alive, but he’s loose on the streets of San Francisco, leaving bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn’t aged a day since he was in Alcatraz, when the prison was ruled by the iron-fisted WARDEN EDWIN JAMES (Jonny Coyne, “Undercovers”) and the merciless ASSOCIATE WARDEN E.B. TILLER (Jason Butler Harner, “The Changeling”). Madsen and Soto reluctantly team with Agent Hauser and his technician, LUCY BANERJEE (Parminder Nagra, “ER”), to stop Sylvane’s vengeful killing spree.

By delving into Alcatraz history, government cover-ups and Rebecca’s own heritage, the team will ultimately discover that Sylvane is only a small part of a much larger, more sinister present-day threat. For while he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that Sylvane won’t be the last prisoner to reappear from Alcatraz. Through the course of the investigation, Madsen and Soto will learn that Agent Hauser has known about the prison’s secret history and has been awaiting the prisoners’ return. Soto will witness his life’s work – the history of Alcatraz – come alive. Madsen will be forced to keep her supportive San Francisco cop fiancé, JIMMY DICKENS (Santiago Cabrera, “Heroes”), at arm’s length from the highly classified assignment as she sees everything she thought she knew about her family’s past shattered, all while fighting to keep the country safe from history’s most dangerous criminals

Trailer for Takashi Miike's New 'Ai To Makoto' Film

Ai To Makoto! Japanese genre legend director Takashi Miike is still on a roll, churning out film after film after film these days. Up next for him is Ai To Makoto, or The Legend of Love & Sincerity, apparently some adaptation of a manga that looks very... colorful. Twitch posted the first teaser trailer and while it's short, and features just a few quick glimpses of footage, it's considerably interesting, to say the least. Is this a musical? I'm not even sure, but apparently it's a love between two high school students. One, the troubled Makoto Taiga, is played by Satoshi Tsumabuki; and the pure, sweet Ai Satome is played by Emi Takei.
Watch the teaser for Takashi Miike's Ai To Makoto or The Legend of Love & Sincerity, via Twitch:
Ai To Makoto is a Japanese manga series written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Takumi Nagayasu. It was adapted into a live-action television series in 1974 and into three live-action films in the 70s. Directing this adaptation, which I believe is also known as The Legend of Love & Sincerity, is legendary Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike, of everything from Audition to Ichi the Killer to Dead or Alive to One Missed Call to Sukiyaki Western Django to Yatterman to 13 Assassins to Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai and Ninja Kids!!! most recently. We don't expect to see this in the US for quite some time, as it's barely hitting theaters in Japan until June 2012. We'll keep you updated, as it just looks too damn interesting anyway. Thoughts?

Trailer for 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' Sequel

"I am going to show you something that will take your breath away." As there aren't any other new trailers to watch this weekend, here's the latest international trailer for New Line's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the 3D sequel to the cheesy CGI adventure movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. We already got an official teaser trailer for this a few weeks ago, but this new trailer is much more serious and intense, there's not a lick of comedy in it (thankfully). Journey 2 stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Vanessa Hudgens, Luis Guzmán and Michael Caine as "grandpa!" If you're interested, view it below.
Watch a new international trailer for Brad Peyton's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, via YouTube:
Young adventurer Sean receives a distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist — a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is directed by newcomer Brad Peyton, of WB's Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore previously. The screenplay is by cousins Brian Gunn & Mark Gunn, of "2gether: The Series", Gayosity and "PG Porn" episodes previously. This was shot partially in Hawaii. New Line/Warner Bros will be bringing Journey 2: The Mysterious Island to theaters in 3D everywhere on February 10th next year.

Trailer for Edward Burns' Latest Indie Drama 'Newlyweds'

"We need to get as far away from any of our relatives as possible." Perfect for Thanksgiving week, right? An official trailer has debuted on Apple for the film Newlyweds, a new indie romantic drama starring and directed by Edward Burns, who you may recognize as an actor, but has been a director for a while as well. It's a drama about newlyweds, obviously, who get disrupted by Burns' half-sister, learning what it means to be married in the process. The cast includes Caitlin FitzGerald as his other half, Linda, Kerry Bishe as the sister, plus Max Baker. This looks rather quirky and entertaining for an indie, so give it a shot. Enjoy!
Watch the official trailer for Edward Burns' Newlyweds, originally in high def via Apple:
Buzzy (Burns) and Katie (FitzGerald) are a newly married couple living a seemingly conflict-free life. But when Buzzy's damaged and impulsive half-sister arrives at their doorstep hoping to stay for an indefinite period in their Tribeca loft, her antics threaten to disrupt the couple's commitment to an "easy" marriage.
Newlyweds is both written & directed by New York-born actor-filmmaker Edward Burns, whose directorial filmography includes The Brothers McMullen, She's the One, Sidewalks of New York, The Groomsmen, Purple Violets and Nice Guy Johnny last year. This had an early premiere at the Amsterdam Film Week and played at the Tribeca Film Festival. It's getting a very limited release starting December 26th this winter.

Trailer for The Darkest Hour

Last week a new featurette shed some light on the Moscow set action sci-fi flick The Darkest Hour, a film that, judging by the first trailer, looks like it just might be an Russian version of Skyline with better actors, and more active characters. That first trailer also included some exposition ridden lines of dialogue to give us an idea of what kind of strange aliens Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella would be battling, but this new international trailer does away with that and uses a dubstep, Skrillex-like soundtrack along with a bunch of sweet action to sell the film to people who love techno and nightclubs. Watch it below!

Here's the international trailer for Chris Gorak's sci-fi flick The Darkest Hour (via SlashFilm):
Directed by Chris Gorak (Right at Your Door), produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and written by Jon Spaihts (Ridley Scott's Prometheus), the film is about five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer) leads the cast including Olivia Thirlby (Juno), Max Minghella (The Social Network), Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and Joel Kinnaman. Summit Entertainment is bringing Chris Gorak's The Darkest Hour to theaters on December 23rd, Christmas weekend, this winter.

Daniel Radcliffe in Trailer 'The Woman in Black

"If we open the door to superstition, where does that lead?" Now that everyone has the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise on Blu-Ray and DVD, it's officially time to allow The Boy Who Lived himself, Daniel Radcliffe, move on to new horizons. His first endeavor to follow the fantasy franchise is taking him to a dark place in the form of James Watkins' horror The Woman in Black. While the February release and PG-13 rating aren't thrilling elements of the film's release, this new trailer continues to make the film look pretty creepy, and Hammer Films came through with Let Me In, so I'll give it a chance. Watch below!

Here's the new trailer for The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe:
A young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client's papers, where he uncovers tragic secrets and encounters the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.
The Woman In Black is directed by British filmmaker James Watkins, of the horror Eden Lake previously. The screenplay was written by Jane Goldman, of Stardust, Kick-Ass, The Debt, X-Men: First Class, adapted from Susan Hill's classic novel, published in 1983. CBS Films will be distributing The Woman In Black in the US, and has already set a February 3rd, 2012 release date early next year. Visit their official website.

Scrat 'Ice Age: Continental Drift'

He's back for more! We're all certainly familiar with Scrat, the lovable prehistoric saber-toothed squirrel who's obsessed with acorns, that is a key part of the marketing for Blue Sky Studio's Ice Age movies. Hitting next summer is Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth movie in the animated franchise, and Fox has unveiled the second Scrat short in high def via Apple to tease this movie. This new one is called Scrat's Continental Crack-Up Part 2 and is a continuation of the first Scrat short teaser we posted earlier this year. It's another fun two minute short, so if you want some Scrat hilarity to brighten your day, here you go!
Watch the short Scrat's Continental Crack-Up Part 2, for Fox's Ice Age: Continental Drift, here:
Here's a synopsis for Ice Age: Continental Drift, co-directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier at Blue Sky Studios: One of filmdom's most beloved trios - Ice Age's Manny, Diego, and Sid - embark upon their greatest adventure after cataclysm sets an entire continent adrift. Separated from the rest of the herd, they use an iceberg as a makeshift ship, which launches them on an epic seafaring quest. Manny and the gang are challenged like never before to become heroes and do the impossible, as they encounter exotic sea creatures, explore a brave new world, and battle ruthless pirates. And Scrat's reunion with his cursed nut catapults him to places no prehistoric squirrel has gone before. It arrives in theaters on July 13th, 2012.

Trailer for Aardman's 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits'

We've already gotten a promising glimpse at Aardman Studios' high seas animated adventure The Pirates! Band of Misfits in the form of a stateside trailer and another trailer from across the pond. Now we have yet another full length theatrical trailer showing off the stunning animation with Chicken Run director Peter Lord behind the camera. This animation style is truly unique, and is now a staple in stop-motion animation. Combine that with the dry British humor that inhabits most Aardman films like Wallace & Gromit, and you've got a promising family friendly film heading to theaters in March of 2012. See the new trailer below!
Here's the new trailer for Aardman Studios' The Pirates! Band of Misfits via Yahoo! Movies:
Pirate Captain is a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Sounds fun. Co-directing the film is Peter Lord, of Chicken Run previously, and Jeff Newitt, from a script by Gideon Defoe. Sony will be bringing The Pirates! to theaters March 30th, 2012.

17-Minutes of 'Raiding the Lost Ark' Fan-Made Documentary

Back in September, we posted the complete collection of fan-made Star Wars Trilogy documentaries from hardcore and passionate franchise lover Jamie Benning. Running through all three of the films from the original trilogy, Benning crafted quite a comprehensive look behind-the-scenes of George Lucas' seminal work by compiling tons of archival footage, interviews and much more. Now Benning is giving the same "filmumentary" treatment to Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first installment in Spielberg's Indiana Jones franchise. Now we have the first 17-minutes of the aptly titled Raiding the Lost Ark to check out below!
The first 17-minutes of Jamie Benning's fan-made documentary Raiding the Lost Ark (via Movies.com):
As it says in the opening title card, Raiding the Lost Ark contains behind-the-scenes video and audio clips, text facts and excerpts from the 1978 story conference, giving unprecedented insight into the development and creation of Raiders of the Lost Ark. From interviews to audition tapes, the footage contained in this still developing fan-made documentary spans several years, and really deserves to be a special feature on a future Blu-Ray release of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Just these first 17-minutes alone are better than half of the special features you find on most home video releases. We'll let you know when the full doc is available.

Trailer for Snow White Film 'Mirror Mirror'

"I definitely have a happily ever after thing going on!" No she doesn't. Relativity let loose the first official trailer for Tarsem's Mirror Mirror, his "sickeningly kiddie" take on Snow White, and you need to see it just to see how bad it is. In this one, Lily Collins stars as Snow White, Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, and Armie Hammer as the Prince, but it looks as far in the opposite direction of Huntsman as anything could be. It seems like an animated movie come to life, complete with Nathan Lane and silly dwarfs. Even Julia Roberts looks like she's phoning it in, enough to make me want to stay far, far away from this. Enjoy!
Watch the first full trailer for Tarsem Singh's Mirror Mirror, via Yahoo, here:
You can also download the official Mirror Mirror trailer in High Def on Yahoo
An exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright, and an evil Queen steals control of a kingdom, in a magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal.
Mirror Mirror is directed by visionary Indian filmmaker Tarsem Singh, of The Cell, The Fall and Immortals previously, which just opened. The screenplay was written by Melissa Wallack & Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher) based on the original story by the Brothers Grimm. Relativity Media is bringing Mirror Mirror to theaters starting on March 16, 2012 next year, well before Snow White and the Huntsman arrives in June.

Trailer for Pixar New Fairytale Brave

"No more fighting, show some decorum!" Disney has unveiled the full theatrical trailer for Pixar's Brave, the studio's first fairytale, set in the Scottish Highlands about a fiesty, red-haired princess named Merida, voiced by Kelly Macdonald. The first teaser trailer for this hit back in the summer, but now we have another glimpse at the scope of the story and a lot more characters, and it definitely looks like a Pixar movie we've never seen before. That said, Pixar trailers never seem to do a great job capturing the true spirit, but give it a shot anyway. The voice cast includes Kevin McKidd, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane and Billy Connolly.

Watch the first full-length trailer for Pixar's Brave, embedded via YouTube in high def on Apple:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Thompson). An unruly daughter and accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. This was originally being helmed by Pixar's first female director, Brenda Chapman (of Prince of Egypt), but they have since brought in co-director Mark Andrews (of the short One Man Band) to take over and finish up the movie. Disney has already scheduled Pixar's Brave for release next summer on June 22nd, 2012. Looking good?

Trailer forCatch .44

While some movies are merely doomed for store shelves as a straight-to-DVD/Blu-Ray release, there are a few that are good enough to spend a little bit of time in theaters. One of those movies is Catch .44, a darkly funny action thriller starring Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker and Malin Akerman which will hit New York and Charlotte, NC theaters (only) starting December 9th and will then be available on Blu-Ray & DVD on December 20. Whitaker and Willis seem to be having a lot of fun in this double-cross drug deal gone wrong, at least from the looks of this trailer, and Akerman at least looks pretty as usual. Watch below!
Here's the trailer for Aaron Harvey's action thriller Catch .44 originally from ComingSoon:
Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Bruce Willis and Malin Akerman lead an all-star cast in this suspense thriller where everyone has an agenda and a Magnum to back it up! For Tes (Akerman) and her two cohorts Kara (Nikki Reed) and Tara (Deborah Ann Woll), were supposed to intercept a double-cross drug shipment for their crime boss Mel (Willis) at an isolated diner. But an unstoppable chain of eventshas everyone realizing no one is who they seem and the job may be more than just eliminating the competition. Aaron Harvey (The Evil Woods) wrote and directed the film which will hit limited New York and Charlotte, North Carolina theaters on December 9th and will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 20. Interested?
