Briefly: Considering this nothing more than just some pure hype, as this is completely expected, but we're crazy for The Hobbit and it's good news to keep fans on their toes. IGN recently interviewed Andy Serkis and got in a few questions about The Hobbit, including when we might see a trailer. "There will be a trailer fairly soon, actually. Around Christmas time, I believe." Makes sense. As we hit December 14th, that'll be one year to the date of the premiere of the first movie, An Unexpected Journey. When asked what movie the trailer might be on, Serkis couldn't say, except that he is confident there's one "just around the corner."
The December season is filled with possibilities, including Warner Bros' sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows on December 16th, perfectly a year out, as well as Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin opening five days later on December 23rd (along with Ghost Protocol). It might be just a teaser, but Peter Jackson will make sure there's enough for fans to get excited about (I'll be right there with them). "There are some truly remarkable landscapes that we're filming in. It's just stunning," Serkis says of the location shoots going on right now. I hope we get to see a 48FPS trailer, but who knows if they'll be able to pull that off. As always, we'll keep you updated and will be the first to report on any additional trailer news for The Hobbit.
