Enterbay 1/6 Jean Reno as Léon

These are the pre-release / prototype pictures of the Enterbay 1/6 scale Jean Reno as Léon 12-inch action figure from the movie "Léon" (also known as "The Professional" and "Léon: The Professional"). From what I can gather from the forums, we'll have to wait until the actual figure is released before deciding whether to buy it or not. Many people have been burned by Enterbay and are now very cautious and weary of their products, preferring to adopt a wait-and-see attitude. Most are not really jumping out of their seats for this because they have experienced premature ecstasy when it comes to Enterbay. They got all excited and wait eagerly for the product only to be disappointed with the final outCOME. If this was a Hot Toys pre-order product / figure, people will be snapping up orders without hesitation but since this is Enterbay, everyone's holding back.

For those who are too young to know, "Léon" is a 1994 thriller film written and directed by French director Luc Besson. It stars Jean Reno as a mob hitman, Gary Oldman as corrupt DEA agent Norman "Stan" Stansfield, and a young Natalie Portman, in her feature film debut, as 12-year-old girl Mathilda Lando who is taken in by the hitman (or "cleaner," as he refers to himself) after her family is murdered by corrupt police agents. "Léon (1994)" is one of the films that have achieved the most critical and commercial success for French actor Jean Reno. He has starred in such high-profile American films as "French Kiss (1995)" with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline, "Mission: Impossible (1996)" with Tom Cruise, "Ronin (1998)" with Robert De Niro, and "Godzilla (1998)". In 2006, he had a prominent role in the remake of "The Pink Panther" and its sequel, playing Gilbert Ponton, the partner of Inspector Clouseau opposite Steve Martin, and also portrayed Captain Bezu Fache in the Ron Howard film "The Da Vinci Code". Everything about this Enterbay 1/6 scale Jean Reno as Léon 12-inch action figure looks promising, especially the head sculpt and the movie-accurate accessories. But Enterbay's HIGH price and SUSPECT quality is putting the brakes on this one :( From the prototype picture shown, it seems they can't get the briefcase to close (see the last picture).

Léon's specially designed vest which he wears for his cleaning jobs

Due to his tall, hulking frame (188 cm, 6' 2"), Jean Reno mostly played villainous brutes early on in his career. He only appeared in romantic-comedies and action films later. Perhaps that explains why he wore his pants high in the film, exposing the ankles and never covering his shoes. Those are not short trousers but rather long legs ;p

The 1/6 scale wool hat / cap seems to be a bit off, more like a kippa or kipa, a hemispherical or platter-shaped Less common expression is skullcap, usually of cloth, often worn by Orthodox Jewish men to fulfill the customary requirement that their head be covered at all times.

The briefcase also looks a tad over-sized when Léon carries it, looks more like a luggage. That makes me wonder about the size of Enterbay's figure. The SMALL size of the supposedly 1:6 scale Enterbay "24" Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) 12-inch figure was a BIG letdown :(

This Enterbay 1/6 scale Léon figure includes: an incredible likeness head sculpture of Jean Reno as Léon; 6 guns including: Ruger SP101, Beretta 92FS, Smith & Wesson Model 586, Smith & Wesson Model 41 and Springfield M1911-AS SASS, Six grenades, clamps / pincers / bolt cutters, folding dagger, RM4 ABS action body with more than 30 points of articulation, 10 pieces of interchangeable hands, brown pleather worker vest for holding weapons and tools, grey woolly beanie hat, dark grey long felt coat, black longsleeve t-shirt, white longsleeve t-shirt, pair of black trousers, pair of round glasses, houseplant, milk carton, milk glass, pleather suitcase, FS-201 Figure stand

Looks like quite a comprehensive list of accessories: milk carton, glass of milk, bolt cutter, briefcase bag which contains all his small arms /pistols plus small knife, grenades and pistol magazines.

Medicom Jake Lonergan and Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde "Cowboys & Aliens"

"Cowboys & Aliens" is a 2011 American science fiction Western film directed by Jon Favreau and starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde. The main plot revolves around an amnesiac outlaw (Craig), a wealthy cattleman (Ford), and a mysterious traveler (Wilde) who must ally to save a group of townspeople abducted by aliens.

I had actually talked about 12-inch "Cowboys & Aliens",putting together 1/6 scale figures that had the actors' likenesses i.e. Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, Harrison Ford as Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde, and Adam Beach as Nat Colorado, Colonel Dolarhyde's right-hand man. Well, it looks like Medicom has secured the license to produce Jake Lonergan and Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde figures, and has released these prototype / preview pictures.

Here's the Medicom 1/6 scale Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, a wanted outlaw with amnesia and a strange metal band shackled to his wrist. Given Medicom's notorious reputation as an under-scaled manufacturer, this 1/6 Jake Lonergan figure won't be able to stand very tall at all which is a shame as the prototype head sculpt really shows a lot of promise.

Medicom 1/6 scale Harrison Ford as Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde, a powerful and rich cattleman who controls the town of Absolution.

Director Jon Favreau had cast Craig and Ford in the film because they were actors who suited the action-adventure roles so the characters would be less seen as comedic.

While Ford is well-known for playing Indiana Jones, the filmmakers wanted to avoid giving him a cowboy hat that would remind audiences too much of Jones. Writer Alex Kurtzman said, "We needed to make sure that — no pun intended — we tipped a hat to iconography of Harrison Ford and also presented the audience with a very different version."

A scene in which Craig's character Jake Lonergan rides a horse alongside a ravine and jumps down it onto a spacecraft emulated many scenes in American Western films where cowboys rode along a moving train and jumped on it. Favreau said the scene referenced the one in the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where Indiana Jones chases a truck while riding a horse and noted that a similar scene existed in the 1939 film Stagecoach, saying "We're constantly referencing back to our roots."

Very Hot 2nd Infantry Division Gunner Uniform Set

As of late, a lot of the 1:6 scale manufacturers have been releasing sets based on the Special Forces branch of the US Armed Forces. Being that these groups generally get the newest and neatest gear and such first, it would only make sense that the toy companies would follow suit. Thus we 1:6 scale military figure collectors actually get to see what's being used out there on the battlefield. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't demand for the basic Infantryman / Grunt or Marine out there in the field.

Fortunately, Very Hot is aware of this and will be releasing a US Army 2nd Infantry Gunner's Uniform Set come November. Since the Army has made the transition to MultiCam, this soldier's uniform and equipment is made in that pattern, from top to bottom, from the ACU cut fatigue shirt and pants to the IOTV body armor.  The Squad Automatic Weapon is nice too - with removable short and long barrels.

To echo what somebody said on the forums: "Finally we can have regular army infantrymen. wow..an infantryman?..really?..they have those? not a super secret snake eatin supadupaparatroopa black ops ninja space viking?..a soldier? wow" I thought it was just so funny the way he put it across especially when it is so true!

The Very Hot 2nd Infantry Division Gunner Uniform Set will include: MICH2000 helmet with cover, Combat Goggles, IOTV GEN2 Tactical Vest, 200-round Pouch x 2, 100-round Pouch, Hand Grenade Pouch x 3, M-67 Hand grenade x 3, Medic Pouch, Radio Pouch, Radio, Dump Pouch, Hydration Carrier, MISC / Utility Pouch, OCP ACU Style Shirt, OCP ACU Style Trousers, Belt x 2, Patches x 3, Gloves, Kneepads, Boots

NOT included: 1/6 head and 12-inch figure body!

What's so different about this set that makes it a standout? Here are some points contributed in the forums.

Firstly the subject: Finally, we get a combat infantryman. Consider the fact that Special Forces operators are dwarfed by the number of conventional grunts out there who do the majority of the fighting and dying, they are VERY under-represented in the combat figure numbers. That is a direct opposite to the WWII market.

Secondly, the set has several bits that haven't been done or are exceedingly hard to find.

Multicam Helmet - VHT continues to be the ONLY company producing helmets with an MC cover which are being worn by the conventional troops and recently the rangers (w/a different NVG mount).

Multicam IOTV - First time done. Multicam pouches - Would have liked some 5.56 mag pouches but all MC pouches are welcome.

Multicam uniform - Contrary to popular belief, only SEALS and CAG get plenty of Crye Multicam. Most operators and the overwhelming majority of conventional troops in Afghanistan make do with issued MC in the ACU style cut (no integrated knee / elbow pads).

Boots - a tad shiny, always preferred molded because of the bozo the clown effect on too many fabric boots.

Misc - can always use, chemlights, frags, goggles. The kneepads are very cool but would have preferred some multicam ones as they are issued and very hard to find.

So now's the best time as any to kit out your own 2nd Infantry Division Gunner, thanks to Very Hot.

Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars 1:6 Clone Commander Bacara

Commander Bacara, also known by the numerical designation 1138, was a clone commander who worked alongside General Ki-Adi-Mundi against Separatist droid armies on the Outer Rim planet Mygeeto. Though he fought alongside the Jedi in numerous battles, Bacara's ultimate loyalty was to the Republic and its Supreme Chancellor. When Palpatine contacted him personally and executed Order 66, Bacara carried out the command without question. He and his fellow Galactic Marines opened fire on Ki-Adi-Mundi, killing their general.

Sideshow Collectibles will be releasing this 1/6 scale Clone Commander Bacara 12-inch figure as part of their Militaries of Star Wars line. Sideshow Collectibles has been most successful in releasing the armored troopers from the Star Wars films. No other 1/6 manufacturer / company has been able to consistently put out these 1/6 scale Star Wars figures except Sideshow and kudos must be given to the company for being able to stay focused and keep collectors and fans happy with their constant release of these figures. Very soon, we'll be able to form a platoon out of all these Sideshow clone troopers which is more than what Hot Toys has done. Hot Toys has not been able to release the "Platoon" 12-inch figures even though they had teased collectors about it. It seems the platoon is MIA (Missing In Action) in Vietnam! Isn't that where Hot Toys fakes had been spotted? But that's for another post.

The Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars 1:6 scale Clone Commander Bacara 12 inch Figure features: Articulated Armored Body with over 30 points of articulation, Detailed Fabric Bodysuit, Highly Detailed Full Body Armor Set with Revised Shoulder Pauldron, Phase II Open Face Helmet Portrait, Fabric Kama Command Skirt, Fabric Chest Pauldron, One (1) pair flat palm hands, One (1) pair thumbs up hands, One (1) pair closed fists, One (1) pair trigger grip hands, One (1) pair C-grip hands, One (1) right hand with one finger point, One (1) left hand with two finger point, One (1) left hand with two finger spread, One (1) pair standing boot, One (1) pair action boot, BlasTech DC-15A Long Range Blaster Rifle, BlasTech DC-15S Blaster Carbine, Two (2) BlasTech DC-17 Pistols, Lower support extendable figure stand with Star Wars logo

Some nice poses of the Sideshow Collectibles Clone Commander Bacara 12-inch figure released

In the Star Wars film "Revenge of the Sith (2005)", which was the sixth and final film released in the Star Wars saga and the third in terms of the series' internal chronology, it was nice to see some individuality among the clone troopers, especially with the commanders.

An unorthodox training regimen run by the Advanced Recon Commando known as Alpha-17 was designed to bring out the independence and tactical genius which was dormant within all clones; his regimen emphasized individuality and creativity, elements which had been modified in the original creation of the clone troopers. As a result, each clone commander took a name and added their own unique touch to their armor which was different from the troops under their command.

So besides different color markings for unit designations, clone commanders themselves adopted additional add-ons for individuality and to stand out from their troops, very much like how the Roman centurion stood out from the legionaries they commanded.

Poor General Ki-Adi-Mundi. The Jedi Knight never even knew what was coming. Shot down in cold blood by his own commander and troops :( A sad chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Sideshow Exclusive will be a 21st Nova Corp Galactic Marines base for alternate display

Not missing much if you can't get the exclusive, especially if you choose to display your figures without the display base like me :) Move along, nothing to see here.
