BBK 1/6 Cowboy - aka Jonah Hex

Jonah Woodson Hex is a Western comic book antihero created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga and published by DC Comics. Hex is a surly and cynical bounty hunter whose face is horribly scarred on the right side. Despite his poor reputation and personality, Hex is bound by a personal code of honor to protect and avenge the innocent. The character is portrayed by Josh Brolin in the 2010 film adaptation of the same name.

This is an upcoming release by yet another new 1/6 company BBK and it is a 12-inch COWBOY figure based on the DC character Jonah Hex played by Josh Brolin in the film adaptation. The BBK003 Cowboy figure will come with 1/6 head sculpt of Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex, 12-inch figure body, hat, shirt, vest (sepia style), leather belt, 2 scabbards, braces (sepia style), leather boots, coat (sepia style), revolver pistol x 2 and individual metal bullets x 50 pieces.

The 2010 film adaptation did not follow the origin of Jonah Hex as seen in the comics. Jonah Hex is a 2010 supernatural Western based on a DC Comic and starring Josh Brolin as a scarred bounty hunter who possesses the power to bring people back from the dead. He is asked by President Ulysses S. Grant to try to stop a vengeful ex-Confederate general-turned terrorist (who also is responsible for the death of Hex's family) from destroying the U.S. with a stolen "superweapon."

During the American Civil War, Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) served as a Confederate cavalryman until his commanding officer, Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich), a General for the Confederates who is obsessed with the fall of the Union, ordered him to burn down a hospital. Hex refused, and was forced to kill his best friend, Turnbull's son Jeb.

After the war, a vengeful Turnbull and his right-hand man, Burke (Michael Fassbender), a psychopathic man who often takes pleasure in those he kills or torments, tie up Hex and force him to watch as his house is burned down with his wife and son inside. Turnbull then brands Hex's face with his initials, "QT", and leaves him to die of thirst or exposure.

Days later, American Indians find Jonah and revive him with their mystical powers. While they did manage to bring Jonah, for the most part, back from the dead, it is stated that they couldn't bring "all of him back". As a result Jonah acquired the ability to, as long as he maintains physical contact with the corpse, temporarily resurrect and communicate with the dead; the corpse physically and mentally brought back to physical condition prior to death (apparently, only Jonah sees them restored like that. To everyone else, they continue to seem decayed and lifeless).

The Confederate States of America (also called the Confederacy, the Confederate States, and the C.S.A.) was a government set up from 1861 to 1865 by 11 Southern slave states of the United States of America that had declared their secession from the U.S. The U.S. government (The Union) rejected secession as illegal, and, after its army was fired upon at the Battle of Fort Sumter, used military action to defeat the C.S.A.

The leading Confederate General Robert E. Lee successfully stopped repeated Union attempts to capture the Confederate capital at Richmond, Virginia, but after four years of very bloody fighting, the Confederates faced an insurmountable disadvantage in terms of men, supplies and public support. By June 1865 its armies surrendered, its government collapsed, its slaves were emancipated, and the Union imposed a program of Reconstruction to restore the seceding states to normal status.

Grey was not the best choice for camouflage, although at the time the usefulness of camouflage was not generally recognized. It was not until after the Spanish-American War that the United States Army instituted a khaki uniform. Grey was chosen for Confederate uniforms because grey dye could be made relatively cheaply.

What Jonah Hex wore was less of a cowboy outfit and more that of a Confederate cavalryman. From what I gather, the gun belt looks cool but it should be holding a pair of Navy colts with no need for cartridge loops. Those revolvers may be recasts of the ones from the VTS Explorer set based on The Mummy - they were too modern there too. The modern revolvers shown here are definitely out of place. Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) carries two Single Action Army Cavalry revolvers as his sidearms.
