Bryan Singer & Leonardo DiCaprio for 'Six Billion Dollar Man?

Six Million Dollar Man / Leonardo DiCaprio
The gestating big screen take on the classic sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica apparently has new life as director Bryan Singer moves closer to finishing his fairytale Jack the Giant Killer, but there's a rumor floating around that the filmmaker might take another 70's television to theaters as well. Latino Review has word that The Weinstein Company is looking to join forces with Universal Pictures to adapt "The Six Million Dollar Man" series into the inflated, contemporary take on the story with The Six Billion Dollar Man and Singer is attached to direct and has talked with Leonardo DiCaprio about leading the film. Read on!
However, while the film takes its title from the classic series about a crippled test pilot who is rebuilt with nuclear powered limbs and implants to serve as a unique intelligence agent, the film will still be based on Martin Caidin's novel Cyborg. Apparently the writers (though Latino Review doesn't specify which) behind Jack the Giant Killer will script the adaptation. As for DiCaprio's involvement, it seems quite strange as the actor isn't known for taking on conventional blockbuster genre films like this. However, working with Bryan Singer might be part of the appeal. For now, consider this a rumor until we hear something official, but with all the attention given to big screen adaptations of TV series and films from decades past, I'm betting this will get off the ground soon.
