Mika Hakkinen Hit the Track with New Mercedes SLS AMG GT3

A couple of weeks ago, Mercedes-Benz announced that two-times Formula 1 world champion Mika Hakkinen, would return to a racing cockpit for the first time after a four-year hiatus to compete in the International Le Mans Cup final race in Zhuhai, China.

The six-hour event will take place next Sunday, November 13, and it will be the first time that the Finn, who has also raced for Mercedes in the DTM, will enter an endurance race.
“This is challenging for me, because I’ve never done it before”, said Hakkinen who will be driving the SLS AMG GT3, which he described as “very different from Formula 1 or DTM cars, but also very easy to drive and very consistent.”
David Coulthard had only good words to say about his former teammate pointing out among other things that a racer “never loses the speed, only the need” to race.
Hakkinen also revealed that although his return to racing initially included a one-off participation in Zhuhai, “there’s a great possibility” that he’ll be racing next year if he enjoys the experience.
