Subaru BRZ Coupe

After the first real picture and computer-generated images of the conceptual BRZ sports coupe that will receive its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week, Subaru today gave us a sneak peak of the actual production model that will debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show on November 30.

We only get a look at the 2012 BRZ's front end, but it is enough to spot some minor differences from the near-production study such as the reshaped bumper that drops the lip spoiler and gains more conventional grille bars and a pair of round fog lights under the turning signals, which are located in less prominent air vents.
Judging by these changes, expect the base version of the production BRZ to lose the concept's aero kit and of course obtain regular-size mirrors.
Compared to its Toyota FT-86 sibling, which we've had the chance to see in production trim via a series of leaked images, the main styling differences between the two models appear to be limited to the front and rear bumper designs and the tail lamps.
The Japanese company also confirmed some basic specs of the rear-wheel drive-only 2012 BRZ including its dimensions that are identical to the FT-86 sans the height (the Subaru is slightly taller at 1,300mm vs. 1,288mm), and the 2.0-liter boxer engine that will be offered with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
The BRZ, which is Subaru's first rear-wheel drive sports car, will enter series production in spring of 2012.
Major Specifications:
Length x Width x Height: 4,240 x 1,775 x 1,300mm
Wheelbase: 2,570mm
Engine type: 2.0 liter Horizontally-Opposed direct fuel injection engine
Transmission type: 6MT/E-6AT
Drive train: Rear-wheel drive
Suspension: front – strut, rear – double wishbone
